Missourians deserve true ownership of their labor and their property, and that requires a fundamental restructuring of our state tax system.I do not support a slow phase-out of the Missouri state income tax; I support its immediate repeal. State income tax punishes productivity, takes from every paycheck, and weakens the ability of Missouri families and businesses to plan for the future. Immediate repeal would let Missourians keep what they earn and restore a basic measure of economic freedom.I also support the immediate repeal of both Personal Property Tax and Real Property Tax. Under current law in Missouri Revised Statutes, property taxes are authorized and implemented through various provisions in Chapters 137 and related sections of state law, which empower local governments to assess and collect taxes on real and tangible personal property. These taxes deprive Missourians of true ownership: you can spend thirty years paying off your home, only to face yearly tax bills in retirement that can force you to sell or fall behind. No one should have to pay the government every year just to keep what they already bought and paid for.I propose replacing the state income tax and all Personal and Real Property Taxes with a single, flat state sales tax of 6.225% on all goods and services sold in Missouri. This tax would apply broadly, including food, non-food items, vehicles, homes, utilities (electric, water, trash and waste disposal), internet, and other services. By moving to a flat, transparent consumption tax, we eliminate complex filings, reduce compliance costs, and ensure everyone pays the same simple rate at the point of purchase.Crucially, I stand for strict taxpayer protection: this 6.225% state sales tax rate should not be changed by politicians alone. Any change to this rate must require a direct vote of the people of Missouri. That guarantees that tax increases cannot be quietly pushed through in Jefferson City; they must be openly debated and approved by the citizens who will pay the bill.As your State Senator, I will file and support legislation to:Repeal the Missouri state income tax in full.Repeal Personal and Real Property Taxes that currently threaten true ownership of homes, land, and personal property.Establish a flat 6.225% state sales tax on all goods and services as the primary source of state revenue.Require that any future change to this sales tax rate be approved by a statewide vote of the people. This plan is simple, transparent, and principled: protect private property, reward work, and put taxing power back where it belongs—with the people of Missouri.
